The product advertising glossary

What is CPM?

Cost per thousand impressions is advertising spend divided by impressions, multiplied by 1,000.

By Drizzle team

A practical example

Spending $120 for 10,000 impressions gives a $12 CPM.

How to use it

CPM describes the price of exposure, not the value of a sale. A more expensive audience can still be profitable if its conversion rate or order contribution is stronger.

Put it in a creative brief

Write down the event, asset, or workflow you mean by CPM before sharing a brief or report. For campaign measurements, keep the source and reporting window with the number. For creative work, attach an example so the team can assess the same thing.
