Photograph transparent products for AI ads

Clear packaging needs visible edges, real contents, and a background that separates it from the scene.

Choose a reference

Use side lighting and a contrasting surface so the outline remains visible. Photograph any included contents separately; a transparent bag should not acquire a new pocket or accessory.

Write the brief

Name the edge, closure, and materials that must remain unchanged. Keep the first video near the original camera angle before attempting an in-use scene.

Review on a phone

A transparent item can disappear against a bright backdrop. Check the product at the actual ad size and retain a still reference for comparison.

A worked example

A clear tote can look almost invisible on white. Photograph it against a mid-tone wall and place a notebook inside only to demonstrate scale. In the brief, state that the notebook is a prop and describe the actual pocket count. Review both empty and filled views; a generated transparent panel may become opaque or gain seams when an object passes behind it.

Decision check

Keep the original product photo, approved facts, and intended placement beside the draft. Review the opening, the moment of movement or contact, and the final frame against the same SKU. If a visual claim cannot be verified, reduce the action or use the real photograph for that detail.
