Test silent versus voiceover product video

Sound can explain a feature, but many placements play without it or ask viewers to opt in.
Hold the visual steady
Use the same product shots and offer. Give the silent version captions that convey the essential facts.
Make voice earn its place
A voice should direct attention to a verified detail or clarify a step the visual alone misses. Avoid reading all visible captions aloud.
Inspect both exports
Check caption timing, accessibility, audio level, and the platform preview before comparing response metrics.
A worked example
Use the same pouch footage twice. In one version, captions point to the zipper and divider; in the other, an approved voiceover does so while captions remain available. Check that both exports show the same fact at the same time. If the spoken version wins a metric, it may be the voice or a production difference, so preserve the actual files for review.
Decision check
Keep the numerator, denominator, date range, currency, and attribution definition with every reported result. A metric describes one part of the shopper path; compare it with visits, purchases, and order contribution before changing the creative or budget. State what the observation cannot establish.
