Keep the product variant consistent after an ad click

By Drizzle team

2 min read

A shopper who sees one color or package size in the ad should not land on a different selection without a clear choice.

Record the exact item

Name the SKU, colorway, and offer when briefing the creative. Verify those attributes again in the accepted export.

Open the destination

Check the linked URL on a phone and a clean browser session. If a selector defaults to another version, use a variant URL or explain the options clearly.

Revisit after changes

Stock, price, and packaging can change after an ad is approved. Recheck the match when the catalog or promotion updates.

A worked example

A video shows a navy backpack with a front pocket, but the product URL defaults to black and that variant lacks the pocket. The click has landed on the wrong promise. Use the correct variant URL and verify it in a fresh browser. Repeat the check when inventory changes or the catalog redirects unavailable options.

Decision check

Keep the numerator, denominator, date range, currency, and attribution definition with every reported result. A metric describes one part of the shopper path; compare it with visits, purchases, and order contribution before changing the creative or budget. State what the observation cannot establish.
